Use this shortlist to connect the experiences in our suggested routes. Pick one or two priorities, then leave space around them. A transfer between islands is part of the travel day, so it should not be treated as an extra sightseeing slot.

These are options, not a list of inclusions. Your confirmed proposal identifies the destination, services and arrangements for each day.

Things to do on Santa Cruz

See giant tortoises in the highlands

A highland visit offers a land-focused start to the trip. The Galapagos Conservation Trust’s Santa Cruz overview describes the island’s giant tortoise habitat and contrasting vegetation zones. In our suggested routes, a guided reserve visit may fit after arrival, depending on flight timing. Ask to move it to another day if you prefer a quieter arrival.

Walk to Tortuga Bay and explore Puerto Ayora

Tortuga Bay combines a visitor trail with coastal scenery. Use our Galapagos packing list to prepare for walking and beach time. Plan around the walk, sun exposure and time you want at the beach; swimming belongs only in designated areas and suitable conditions. Back in Puerto Ayora, leave room for the waterfront or a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station, whose visitor exhibits introduce conservation work. Check current visitor arrangements when planning your day.

Choose one offshore excursion

Our Santa Cruz itineraries propose a guided day boat to a permitted visitor site such as North Seymour, Bartolomé, South Plaza or Santa Fe. These are alternatives. Tell us whether your priority is a particular landscape, wildlife interest or time in the water, and we will check which excursion can fit. Your proposal should name one destination and explain the activities and transfers involved.

Things to do on Isabela

Explore Los Túneles with a guide

Los Túneles is a proposed marine excursion in our seven- and eight-day routes, combining lava scenery and snorkeling. Tell us how comfortable you are entering the water from a boat. Access and the exact outing depend on sea conditions and availability, so discuss an alternative before booking if this is your main reason for adding Isabela.

Choose Sierra Negra or a slower coastal day

Sierra Negra is one of the volcanoes that formed Isabela’s volcanic landscape. Our routes offer a guided hike or the option to request a gentler day. Check the actual walking route and terrain instead of assuming that every volcano outing involves the same effort. Time in Puerto Villamil and by its beach can give the itinerary breathing room between longer excursions.

Things to do on San Cristóbal

Start with coastal wildlife and island life

Our eight-day route begins with time at Playa Mann, adjusted around arrival. The town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno provides a base for exploring San Cristóbal; the Conservation Trust’s island overview explains its coastal and highland wildlife. Leave animals room to move, even when they are resting near people. Sightings are never guaranteed.

Consider Kicker Rock for an active marine day

Kicker Rock is the proposed second-day excursion in our eight-day itinerary. Its snorkeling is an open-water experience, so it deserves a conversation about swimming confidence before it becomes a confirmed activity. Balance guided outings with independent time

A hotel stay gives you room for meals in town and flexible afternoons, alongside organized excursions. It does not mean every visitor site can be explored independently. Confirm access, guiding requirements and arrangements for each planned visit; see the Conservation Trust’s responsible travel guidance when preparing.

• Choose around your party: consider walking duration, swimming confidence and the effort of boat boarding.
• Protect transfer days: allow for crossings, hotel check-in and recovery before another major outing.
• Compare the whole excursion: check its departure point, transport, equipment, meals and private or shared services.
• Leave a flexible day: use it for downtime or an agreed alternative, rather than promising yourself every activity on a list.
