OUR PLANNING RECOMMENDATION
Start by considering 8 days for a more active three-island route, 7 days for two bases, or 5 days for one island base. These are starting points for our suggested itineraries, not a minimum stay rule. If you want a relaxed three-island trip, ask us to add nights rather than fit more into each day.
8, 7 or 5 days: what changes?
Our routes offer different ways to use your time. A longer trip does not have to mean more islands: it can also mean staying longer in the places you choose.

The island order, final overnight stay and total duration remain subject to flight connections and confirmed services.

A five-day itinerary includes arrival and departure. It does not automatically provide five full days of excursions. Write down your expected arrival time, your departure arrangements and every change of island before adding activities.
For example, a five-day stay with travel on the first and last days leaves three middle days to organize. You may still have time for an activity on arrival, but that depends on the flight and transfer arrangements. Treat that time as something to confirm rather than a guaranteed full excursion.
Island changes deserve their own space. Galapagos National Park’s transport information describes passenger-boat crossings as taking approximately two to three hours, depending on sea conditions. Work backward from your flight home
Before confirming the last island, check your departure airport and its island connections. We may suggest a different island order or an extra overnight stay. A suggested itinerary is not a guarantee of a same-day boat-to-flight connection.

Eight days: choose variety deliberately
A three-island outline gives you more changes of setting, with more logistics to match. Our suggested route includes San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz and Isabela. It is the more active option in this comparison. Add nights if you prefer time to settle in between transfers.

Seven days: make room for contrast
Our two-island starting point combines Santa Cruz and Isabela. It suits travelers who want a change of setting without making a third base the focus. If you value unhurried mornings or extra time for photography, consider keeping two islands and extending the stay.

Five days: settle into one base

For families,
start with the pace.
Use children’s ages, water confidence, room needs and preferred downtime to shape the route. Seven days is the starting length of our family outline, but it is not a rule for every family. Fewer bases may fit your priorities better than a longer list of islands.
Tell us which parts of the day usually work best for your children and how comfortable everyone is with boat travel. We can discuss the balance of guided activities, rest and transfers before proposing a route.

Can I stay longer than eight days?
Yes. Request additional nights in the planner. You can use them for a slower pace or to discuss more experiences, subject to availability.
Can I visit any place from any island base?
Do not assume that a place seen in a photograph can be included from your chosen base. The National Park manages authorized marine and land visitor sites and their permitted activities. Ask us to check the places that matter most against your route. Official visitor-site information
Does a longer stay guarantee more wildlife?
No. Extra time gives you more room to plan experiences, but wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Choose a trip you would enjoy for its overall pace and activities too.
